Stay Productive During Quarantine!
Of course, being lazy is just SO easy! And quarantine really makes the laziness crash into you. But you still have to work, you still have to study, you still have to “go” to school. Sleeping in is just so much easier and staying at home everyday gets you feeling bored and unmotivated to do work. If you’re at a loss for what to do, here are some tips and ideas that have helped me stay motivated!
1. Organize and clean your room!
It is so important to make sure your room and desk are clean everyday because doing so can keep you feeling refreshed and ready to do work. Start by making your bed right after waking up, then organize your closet, and most importantly tidy your desk. A clean space equals a clean mind! It can also help you become much more organized so that you don’t have to spend hours looking for that one notepad or pen you haven’t seen in months. Also, keep it minimal: avoid overloading your workspace with a ton of things and put away what you don’t need! Having a messy and cluttered desk will allow you to get distracted more easily and leave you with less workspace to use. You will not regret investing a bit of time to tidy up your workspace!
2. Have a cup of water next to you and take short breaks
You can’t go wrong with staying hydrated! It will definitely keep you refreshed for the day. By keeping a glass of water next to you, you will not only feel more fresh while working but also more active, since you will have to stand up and move around to refill your glass. As a result, you can squeeze in some quick stretches and give yourself a short break from studying. Taking breaks is also really important to maintain motivation because working for a whole day nonstop can drain your batteries and leave you feeling burned out.
3. Make to-do lists and write a schedule.
This step can be key to organizing your life. You will know what you need to get done everyday and how long you have to do it. It will also give you a sense of when to wake up and prevent you from sleeping in too late. Personally, I would suggest creating your to-do list and schedule the night before, so that you are prepared for the next day. As a result, you will get things done a lot faster and easier. You can also try ordering your to-do’s in different ways. For example, it is often best to do the things that you don’t want to do the most first, since we tend to be most productive in the mornings and slowly less energized as the day progresses. Therefore, doing the easier tasks when you are less energized (and vice versa) is so much better. Don’t forget to take some breaks away from all your screens!
4. Exercise
Unfortunately, quarantine does mean that we can’t go to the gym or exercise in groups. But that doesn’t mean that we should stop exercising altogether. There are so many exercises and workouts that do not require access to a gym. Besides, keeping fit is quite important at a time like this, as it helps overcome idleness and gets you moving after a day of mostly sitting and working.
5. Don’t go to sleep late
Try your best not to sleep late because it is crucial to maintain a healthy schedule and routine throughout your quarantine. Don’t mess it up because if you don’t get enough sleep everyday, your brain won’t function as well and you may feel tired, which can in turn decrease your productivity. If you are having trouble falling asleep, try listening to music or an audio book. Take a break from all screens and read instead, or close your eyes and simply listen to the audio book version: it is such an effective way to help you fall asleep and books are an amazing opportunity for both entertainment and reflection!
