Returning to School
What a year we have had! After being sent home to quarantine due to the coronavirus, I decided to create this website. Months have passed by and now I am back at school. Australia only has a few hundred unrecovered cases left and this number is gradually decreasing. I believe that many other schools in Australia are also opening again.
Personally, I was a little shocked when the school announced the reopening because I thought it was too soon. But after thinking for a while, I concluded that a school won’t open unless they know that there is nearly no risk. So I decided to return. Since I quite like the guidelines that my school has come up with to keep everyone safe, I wanted to recommend to those who are returning to school to follow them as well:
Keep arm length distance from everyone
We have to make sure that we are still in social distancing mode. Due to the locker rooms being really packed all the time, the school has closed them down. This was definitely a good idea. Big events that involve large gatherings will also be canceled. During class, make sure your desks are apart and not too close to other people. Also, make sure that you don’t touch others (including your friends) because social distancing is key: it is what stops the coronavirus from spreading.
Don’t share food
This is very important because food sharing is another easy way by which the coronavirus can spread. It is quite dangerous to randomly exchange food with friends because you never know what the other person may have touched. Avoid opening a bag of crisps and offering some to your friends! Alternatively, if you tend to get hungry, just bring more food for yourself instead of asking to have some of your friends’ food: it could be very dangerous!
Keep warm and eat plenty of healthy food to prevent catching a cold
It is winter in Australia right now so try to wear an extra layer under your uniforms to decrease the risk of catching a cold. Getting a cold will make you more vulnerable to the coronavirus, as it will temporarily weaken your immune system. Eat lots of healthy food to maintain high energy levels and keep your immune system strong. If you are still staying at home or spend most of the day sitting down, don’t forget to move around every single day in order to keep fit and energized!
